We are reformed in our view of salvation, subscribing to what is commonly referred to as the doctrines of grace. We are baptistic in our church polity, subscribing to what is commonly referred to as the believer's church. We are exegetical and expository in our teaching, adhering strictly to the principle that God's wisdom is wiser than the wisdom of man. Although we view no creed as infallible, we subscribe to the First London Baptist Confession of Faith (1646) as an accurate statement of the main teachings of Scripture. Please see our Statement of Faith for a complete list of the biblical teachings we view as essential. |

Our Distinctives |
||
| Reformed: | We believe God is absolutely sovereign in his actions, decisions, and choices. We believe that man is dead in his sin and must be made alive and drawn by God to Christ before he can respond to the free gift of grace. | |
| Baptistic: | We believe the church universal consists of all those who are redeemed by God. We believe the local church is a visible manifestation of that redeemed community, and that each local church is autonomous and is accountable to God for its ministry: "To his own Master he shall stand or fall." Yet we also believe that each local church has an obligation before God to maintain the unity of the faith with other like-minded churches (Eph 4:1-6). Such unity should never take place at the expense of essential truth. Yet we recognize there is a hierarchy of truth, and that some biblical teachings are to be held as essential to all Christians, while others may be privately held opinions: "whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God." In such cases we are to bear with one another in love, while persuading each other toward a more accurate understanding of Scripture. | |
| Exegetical and Expository: | Convinced that the pastor-teacher has been entrusted with the task of teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, and that the word of God alone is sufficient to equip a man for these tasks, we believe this is best accomplished through expository teaching of the word of God, according to which the biblical text, interpreted in its context, drives the "topic" of the sermon or lesson. | |
| History: | New Covenant Bible Church had its start several years ago as a house church. It went through various names, including Deer Creek Bible Church and Mt. Evans Bible Church. Each of those names, however, represented an earthly location that did not well define who we are eternally. Following our Lord's emphasis that "Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away" (Matt 24:35), we adopted "New Covenant Bible Church" as our permanent name and one that more accurately defines both who we are and the solid foundation on which we stand. | |
| Service Oriented | Our focus is on service in the gospel and for the kingdom of God. We are a small congregation, which makes it easy for all of our people to be active. Each member of our church makes serving serves eagerly and with joy. | |
